Notes from Charlie: Composed to teach my artificial intelligence, ChAI. It isn't about pianistic ability: it's about showing my funny little creative nuances so it could learn them. These weren't played on an acoustic piano, so forgive the missing overtones.
Every piece in Constellation is an improvisation. Most came in the middle of scoring a film or working on something else, when I needed to stop and stretch out at the piano. Recorded across more than 25 years, they were released as 52 collections, one a week through 2023, each following the night sky. Every track is named for a star. 433 improvisations, around 30 hours of music.
