Monoceros, the unicorn, sits on the celestial equator. Its stars are faint and hard to see with the naked eye, but Beta Monocerotis is a triple star whose three suns form a fixed triangle. The tracks are named for its stars.
Notes from Charlie: Monoceros is the unicorn, a lovely pattern of stars in the northern winter sky. Music for the rare and the unexpected.
Every piece in Constellation is an improvisation. Most came in the middle of scoring a film or working on something else, when I needed to stop and stretch out at the piano. Recorded across more than 25 years, they were released as 52 collections, one a week through 2023, each following the night sky. Every track is named for a star. 433 improvisations, around 30 hours of music.
Creativity is infinite.
