Notes from Charlie: Across those twenty-six hours I played, meditated, talked with friends and made music especially for dogs. Somewhere along the way I invented a whole set of new ten-minute improvisations, having lost all sense of time and space. Outrageous, and so much fun.
Every piece in Constellation is an improvisation. Most came in the middle of scoring a film or working on something else, when I needed to stop and stretch out at the piano. Recorded across more than 25 years, they were released as 52 collections, one a week through 2023, each following the night sky. Every track is named for a star. 433 improvisations, around 30 hours of music.
Creativity is infinite.
