Triangulum Australe, the southern triangle, never sets over most of the southern hemisphere. Its brightest star, Atria, is so large that at the centre of our solar system it would almost reach the orbit of Venus.
Notes from Charlie: Triangles are truly great things, and I use them quietly in my music, even though there's nothing quiet about a triangle. Putting these releases together has meant getting to know my own compositions all over again, and that's been lovely.
Every piece in Constellation is an improvisation. Most came in the middle of scoring a film or working on something else, when I needed to stop and stretch out at the piano. Recorded across more than 25 years, they were released as 52 collections, one a week through 2023, each following the night sky. Every track is named for a star. 433 improvisations, around 30 hours of music.
Creativity is infinite.
