A collection of solo piano improvisations.
Hydra, the water snake, is the largest of all 88 constellations. Its brightest star, Alphard, means 'the solitary one'.
Notes from Charlie: Thank you for listening, and for learning a little more about the southern skies with me along the way.
Every piece in Constellation is a solo piano improvisation. Most came in the middle of scoring a film or working on some other curious project, when I needed to stop, breathe, and let my hands go wandering across the keys. Recorded across more than 25 years, they were released as 52 collections, one a week through 2023, each following the night sky. Every track is named for a star. 433 improvisations, around 30 hours of music. Creativity is infinite.
