A collection of solo piano improvisations.
Lynx is named for its faintness: you'd need the eyes of a lynx to find it. Its brightest star, Alpha Lyncis, is an orange giant about 55 times the Sun's size.
Notes from Charlie: It opens with something very familiar. I had never played Auld Lang Syne before, and it took me somewhere close to Leonard Cohen.
Every piece in Constellation is a solo piano improvisation. Most came in the middle of scoring a film or working on some other curious project, when I needed to stop, breathe, and let my hands go wandering across the keys. Recorded across more than 25 years, they were released as 52 collections, one a week through 2023, each following the night sky. Every track is named for a star. 433 improvisations, around 30 hours of music. Creativity is infinite.
