A collection of solo piano improvisations.
Taurus, the bull, has 19 main stars. Its brightest, Aldebaran, is the bull's red eye, glaring at Orion the hunter. The tracks include Aldebaran and Elnath, and Alcyone, Atlas and Electra from the Pleiades.
Notes from Charlie: Two stand-outs. Theta Tauri is a quick, light new take on Paradise, a piece I wrote many years ago. Aldebaran, the opening track, has a rare openness to it. Put it on, unwind, and share it with someone.
Every piece in Constellation is an improvisation. Most came in the middle of scoring a film or working on something else, when I needed to stop and stretch out at the piano. Recorded across more than 25 years, they were released as 52 collections, one a week through 2023, each following the night sky. Every track is named for a star. 433 improvisations, around 30 hours of music. Creativity is infinite.
